Jude 1:24 (AMP)
24 Now to Him Who is able to keep you without stumbling or slipping or falling, and to present [you] unblemished (blameless and faultless) before the presence of His glory in triumphant joy and exultation [with unspeakable, ecstatic delight]
Reflections:
Now this sounds way too good to be true. Does this really mean that we dont have to stumble, slip or fall anymore? The answer of course is yes because God said so, but how do we bring this down to where the rubber meets the road of life?
Weve all sinned and come short of the glory of God, even after we were saved, havent we. I have. Actually I think weve kind of resigned ourselves to the reality of this sad ongoing sin-scenario.
But perhaps weve given in a bit too easily. If God said we can do this, then its up to us to believe what God says. Look here at what the apostle Paul said, for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day (2 Tim 1:12b).
Even Jesus, in his most challenging hours in the Garden, needed to be, and was, strengthened, And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him (Lk 22:43).
The answer seems to lie in the phrase that which I have committed unto him.The word committed in newer versions is translated entrusted meaning to commit to another with confidence. Jesus entrusted himself to God and we are to entrust ourselves to Jesus.
When we do so (with all our heart) I believe a supernatural component kicks in and the power of the Holy Spirit becomes ours, making us able to stand firm and not to fall stumble or slip along the way.
Isnt that what our verses today are telling us ?
