James 4:10 (KJV)

10Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

Reflections:

While I was with the Lord yesterday I caught a different spin on this verse. The Holy Spirit compared this verse to Jesus where he said, If I be lifted up from the earth, I will draw all men unto me (Jn 12:32).

We know that as we lift up Jesus, and testify of his workings in our lives, that it will draw peoples attention to Him. Some will even become born again and get saved.

But, the thought that passed through my thinking, at that moment, was that as we humble down, He will lift us up in death, and we will become a living sacrifice (crucified) just like Him. ï¿½I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me (Gal 2:20).

This being lifted up is not for our sakes, but rather for His! When He lifts us up it is death to self whilst still living! As were lifted up (crucified to our flesh) people will be drawn to the Christ in us, and we in turn can easily lead then to the saving knowledge of Jesus!

We do not belong to us anymore: ï¿½What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's (1 Cor 6:19-20).

To the truly saved this truth should be a living reality; an insatiable passion in our innermost being to be lifted up for Jesus, who was lifted up for us! Can we say along with the apostle Paul:

For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain (Phil 1:21).
