29Is not my word like as a fire? saith the LORD; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces?
Reflections:
Metals such as gold are housed in rock. Once discovered, these rocks must be broken to reveal their precious cargo. A fiery furnace then draws this precious metal from the rock and purifies it by bring forth the dross of its imperfections to the surface. The dross is then skimmed off the surface leaving only the stunning precious metal.
Pure gold is like a deep mirror reflecting the glory of a new creation. Coming to Jesus and getting saved is only the beginning; its like finding the mine!
Once saved the arduous process of mining and purifying the new soul in the furnace of affliction must take place. If we allow this process of refining to proceed we will begin to reflect the depth of the glory of God to others around us.
Only the Holy Spirit can lead us from glory to glory (one level of spiritual refinement to the next) such that Jesus precious face might be seen more and more in ours. God must have our permission for such a serious process as this -- does He have yours ?

Nancy commented on yesterday's "Bible Portion for Today" regarding lifting our hands in praise:
"I remember the first time I lifted my hands in worship to the Lord. I was a little... or a lot reluctant, but felt compelled to do it. I remember the feeling of freedom and the breaking of what felt like chains just falling away as his Spirit rained down His delight on this simple act of surrender.
I heard a preacher recently say that it was a cultural thing for back then and not our normal mode of worship today and I thought, " Oh, if you only knew what that act of humble surrender can do to open your heart even more to His awesome love."
