Exodus 20:1-3 (KJV)
1And God spake all these words, saying, 2I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.3Thou shalt have no other gods before me. (Thus begins the Ten Commandments Ex 20:1-17).
9 and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from thelaw, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith.
Reflections:
Is the Bible a law book or a love letter from God? The answer is that its both. Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor (Gal 3:24-25).
In simple terms, we had to know what sin was, as defined by the Ten Commandments. Before we can be saved we must know that we are hopelessly lost because we have broken Gods holy Law. Only then can we repent and come to Christ so that we can be freely forgiven by Gods loving, free gift of grace.
Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God (1 John 3:1a)! what an amazing eternal plan -- What an amazing love letter
