Ephesians 4:13 (NKJV)
13 till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ;
Reflections:
If we were to ask, How can I best grow up in Christ? We would most probably be told to read our Bibles, pray and to fellowship with other believers.
However as we see in our following verses this must not be the be-all, end-all:
6 Therefore, leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ, let us go on to perfection, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God, 2 of the doctrine of baptisms, of laying on of hands, of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.3 And this we will do if God permits (Heb 6:1-3).
This verse encourages us to go on to perfection. What is this spiritual perfection the writer of Hebrews sets before us? It can be found in the last verse of Hebrews chapter 6.
19 This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, andwhich enters the Presence behind the veil, 20 where the forerunner has entered for us, even Jesus, having become High Priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.
This place of perfection is the place behind the veil where the presence of the glory of Christ dwells. Its the place of spiritual transformation; the place where all things are possible.
Its also the place of total exposure to God where were stripped naked of all pretense; where we are compelled by God to enter into the fire. It is here that He can surface our sin-dross and skim it away once and for all.
As we desire to spiritually grow up some more we can always find the doorway that leads through the veil; its found deep down in our hearts
And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart (Jer 29:13).
