1 Timothy 2:8 (New King James Version)
I desire therefore that the men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting;
Reflections:
This lifting up of our hands to God is considered by many as an extreme act of worship. But of course the very fact that we are encouraged in the Bible to do this cannot be denied. The book of Psalms mentions this in several verses including Ps 63:4; 134:2; 141:2. The Book of Lamentations 3:41 has a very beautiful expression of this: Let us lift up our heart with our hands unto God in the heavens.
Lifting up holy hands is a spiritual response of the heart towards God. If youve not yet experienced the beauty of this expression of worship toward God why not take a moment, close your eyes, lift your hands way up high and stretch out your heart out towards God for several moments.
The reason this act of worship has so much value to me personally is that it contains a three-fold benefit beyond the fact that it blesses God.
 It is my personal expression of unconditional surrender to God
 It is like raising my spiritual antenna in a desire to hear God more clearly
 It is my expression of hunger for more of the Fathers desire for me (like fledglings chicks in a nest when mama bird feeds them)
