John 11:35 (KJV)
35Jesus wept.
Reflections:
The scene was in Bethany at Mary and Marthas home where their brother (Jesus dear friend) Lazarus had recently died. Jesus knew what He was about to do that was exactly why he delayed His coming.
When He arrived in Bethany both Martha and her sister Mary greeted Jesus in the very same way saying, Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died. I personally believe this is why Jesus wept; because rather than believe and trust in Him, they blamed Him for their brothers death.
Does this sound familiar? Perhaps you have spoken similar words to the Lord -- Lord, if you had just shown up when I really needed you, when my loved one was dying, but you didnt. Why did you raise Lazarus from the dead that day in Bethany, but not respond to my desperate cry?
Beloved, quite frankly, no one really has the answers to these questions except the one who weeps with us -- and one day when we see Him face to face all will be revealed
Theres one thing of which we can be certain, and that was Jesus response to Martha: I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die.
