21 Elijah approached all the people and said, How long will you hobble back and forth between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow God. If Baal is God, follow Baal. The people gave no answer.
16 So, because you are lukewarm and neither cold nor hot, I will spew you out of My mouth!
Reflections:
You might initially think Im preaching to the choir here, but maybe not. Perhaps theres someone out there that has heard about the gospel over and over again, but never really allowed it to touch their heart.
Maybe you fellowship with a body of believers once in a while, and then again maybe you dont. Maybe you know that you should fully surrender to Christ, but then again maybe you think it will crimp your style too much. You just cant seem to make up your mind which side of the fence you want to be on.
Let me just say that there is nothing that compares to the righteousness, peace and joy that God brings to the human heart at the point of total surrender. He forgives all our sin and receives us as beloved children for all eternity. How foolish we would be to keep him at arms length and not give Him access to our sore hearts.
He truly loves and longs for you and me? Oh how foolish and proud it is to keep Him at a distance. How long will you straddle the fence? How long will you hobble back and forth between two opinions? If the Lord is God, (and He is) follow God. If Baal (a phony god like the world offers to us) is God, then follow Baal. Make up your mind ...
