1 Corinthians 12  (NKJV)

1 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not want you to be ignorant  7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: 8 for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, 10 to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. 11 But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.

Reflections:

Have you ever been to a Philharmonic Orchestra seated amidst all the beautiful sounds in their ever-changing melodic patterns and precision harmonies? What always stands out to me is the conductor. He himself doesnt make a sound, but is in total control of the many, many different sounds as implicit direction freely flows freely off the tip of his baton.

It reminds me of a field of high grass on a windswept day; the grass responding with each ever-changing breath of breeze, swaying this way and that, in perfect unity and natural beauty.

First Corinthians, chapters 12-14, give us an in-depth glimpse of a typical New Testament style meeting in all its spiritual beauty and glory. So many beautiful and different spiritual gifts (instruments) responding to the divine instruction of that skillful, heaven-sent conductor, the Holy Spirit made it evident that heaven had truly come down to earth.

I often wonder why those Spirit-led symphonies of ancient Christianity have become all but silenced -- for in this church age a symphony such as this is rarely experienced. Many believe it is no longer relevant, others are afraid that it will offend and/or scare folks away. But why would God provide such a wondrous opportunity in the Spirit only to scare people away???

Perhaps its time for our younger generation of Christians to take a second look, and to reconsider the relevancy of the moving of the Holy Spirit in our midst. Have well-meaning men, over the confused and convoluted years of Christianity, thrown the baby out with the bathwater without realizing it?

If I were the devil, I too would try and silence this super-natural orchestration of the Body of Christ and to reduce it to something more   natural
