2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV)
17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
Reflections:
Remember when we first got saved. Oh, the excitement that went along with it all. We wanted to tell everybody what the Lord had done for us. We were free and empowered by the Holy Spirit to become all that God was calling us to be. It was so easy and so natural as we simply yielded to God.
But then something happened. Well meaning teachers began to bring us under the do�s and don�ts. We began to feel as though we had to perform in order to stay in God�s good graces rather than simply yield to it.
Good works in an attempt to win God�s favor is a leech that sucks the joy out of grace and we end up in a bondage that�s worse than before we first got saved. At least then we were free to do �whatever felt good� (as wrong as it was).
God�s not looking for a �works� makeover. Self improvement techniques are like New Year�s resolutions; they just don�t last and before long we find ourselves reverting back to failure.
The Apostle Paul saw this very thing happening to the Church of Galatia, regarding the Law, and wrote the following:
�O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you that you should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed among you as crucified? 2 This only I want to learn from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? 3 Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now being made perfect by the flesh (Gal 3:1-3)?�
Don�t climb back into the cocoon of the flesh beloved, fly free totally surrendered to Christ allowing the Holy Spirit to do the work only He, and he alone can accomplish...
