John 3:8 (AMP)
8 The wind blows (breathes) where it wills; and though you hear its sound, yet you neither know where it comes from nor where it is going. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.
Reflections:
I absolutely love the wind as an analogy to the Holy Spirit, for that is exactly how He functions. Im reminded of the rushing mighty wind that filled the upper room on the day of Pentecost:
And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance (Acts 2:2-4). Pretty exciting, huh?
Where He is present anything can happen at any time. The gifts of the Holy Spirit can begin to manifest themselves, folks can feel a sense of repentance, or joy, or peace; whatever it is that the Holy Spirit wants to present at that time to His church.
When the Holy Spirit is not present the church is left to fend for itself by substituting true power and anointing with stuffy liturgy, ceremonialism and talent. One little ounce of the move of the Holy Spirit is worth more than all the methods and talents that men can possibly muster.
If we will surrender our all to the Holy Spirit we too can, and will, be led about doing the genuine, unpredictable will of God. If were looking to see the hand of God in todays contemporary setting we desperately need to be genuinely led by the Spirit of God. Nothing less will do!
Why not put God to the test and sincerely ask him to specifically lead you by His Spirit. Just a simple little prayer, with a big desire, is all thats necessary. Dont try to make anything happen, but rather go about your business. I think youll be pleasantly surprised
