1And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God.
2For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.
Reflections:
Its so easy, when preaching the gospel, to get sidetracked by issues that divert us away from Jesus Christ and Him crucified. The only relevant issues are, sin and death (separation from God eternally), forgiveness of sin and eternal life with God. This, of course, being made possible by the shedding of Jesus blood, and His atoning sacrifice on the cross leading to His glorious resurrection from the dead.
The evolution sidetrack, or the, I dont believe the Bible is the word of God sidetrack, or The all religions lead to God sidetrack, will keep you going around the mountain of avoidance for hours and hours. The issues are endless. This is one of the devils favorite ploys -- to mask the essential issues that lead to salvation.
Like the apostle Paul, we should try to always bring the conversation back to Jesus Christ and him crucified. This maximizes the Holy Spirits opportunity to convict the persons heart of sin so that they can reach the point of repentance. Only then are they ready for a biblical salvation leading to water baptism (Acts 2:38) and a lifetime of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit serving our Lord Jesus Christ.
And then when life is finally swallowed up by death, then death for the true Christian will be swallowed up in an eternal victory that knows no limitations. Just think, well behold Him face to face as we the bride of Christ are finally and eternally wed to our supernal majestic bridegroomadd-infinitum
