Jude 1:1-2 (KJV)
1 Jude, the servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to them that are sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ, and called:2 Mercy unto you, and peace, and love, be multiplied.
Reflections:
I love this thought of being preserved or kept by Jesus Christ.
In 1Thess 5:23 we read, in the Amplified Version, And may the God of peace Himself sanctify you through and through [separate you from profane things, make you pure and wholly consecrated to God]; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved sound and complete [and found] blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah).
Its interesting to note that its the God of peace that does the sanctifying, separating and making pure. Once again were brought to the place of utter dependency on Christ for it all. Our only roll is to agree with the Word of God and to surrender to its tenets, desiring to be molded afresh and anew.
Im reminded of one thing that can interfere with the process of God, and that is misplaced and misguided religious zeal. The Apostle Paul, when he was still known as Saul of Tarsus, exemplifies this in his zeal to eliminate Christians. He was certain that he was doing the right thing, but oh how wrong he was. He needed a short encounter with Jesus to straighten him out.
