1 Thessalonians 5:23 (NKJV)
Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Reflections:
Isnt it amazing how many of us religiously go to have our yearly physicals? Many of us go to our dentist more than once a year. We go to podiatrists, opticians, audiologists, heart specialists, lung specialists and the list goes on and on. Oh, how we want to feel and stay physically well.
And then theres the psychologist, psychiatrists and a myriad of specialist councilors just waiting to help us to stay emotionally well. If it werent for health insurance many of us would be living in the poor house, or worse.
Im sure you know where this is all going. Thats right, we spend all this time and money on our bodies and souls (emotions), but, for the most part, we neglect our most important component; our spiritual well being. Why is it that we express so great a concern over our physical and emotional well-being and so little over our spirit-health?
Fear of death is a huge for many. Many are flat out afraid to die and so we try hard to live on and on. I guess thats normal if one doesnt have a vital faith.
Then again its much easier to define sickness in our bodies and souls than it is in our spirit. Feeling ill or experiencing pain is Gods built-in alarm system, when we sense it, then its off to the doctors we go. However, many feel that the root of many diseases is a spiritual one, like un-forgiveness, bitterness and sin.
When were spiritually dialed in, pursuing holiness, and at peace with God our soul and body automatically follow. If we invested a bit more time to our spiritual well-being perhaps wed find we spend a lot less time at the doctors office
