Ephesians 6:16 (KJV)
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
Reflections:
To me �Above all� means the most important piece of armor that you can wear; important because the fiery darts of doubt and unbelief are sure to come. All the spiritual armor God provides for us should be worn, but the shield of faith is our first line of defense.
Perhaps you�ve recently found your way to a mountain-top experience with God, and are basking in the glow of God�s provision. This is not the time to sit back, slack off and let down your guard. As far as Satan is concerned this is one of his most desired opportune moments to strike; when we least expect it.
Most of us are familiar with this famous sign-off slogan, �Don't be surprised if sometime, somewhere, someplace when you least expect it, someone steps up to you and says, smile! You're on Candid Camera!�
Only difference with Satan is that he won�t be so nice. He doesn�t come to make our day, he comes to destroy it; but he can only do so if we allow him to.
The solution to all this is to enjoy the glory, but to �Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour (1 Pet 5:8) � � And if he does shows up, use your shield �!
