28 Do not be amazed at this, for a time is coming when all who are in their graves will hear his voice29 and come outthose who have done what is good will rise to live, and those who have done what is evil will rise to be condemned.
Reflections:
Harry Houdini amazed great crowds by his so-called magic. Yet Houdini for all his mysterious powers, died in 1926 and has not been able to pick the lock on his grave to suddenly appear again. Before his death, Houdini promised to keep in touch from the spirit world. His friends held a sance at his grave holding hands and calling for their hero to return, but alas the padlock remained closed and Houdinis body remained sealed in the tomb. (excerpts from The Sonshine Society copyright 1988)
Jesus also promised to return from the grave, and unlike Houdini, he did! It was an angel that testified,
And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him. But go your way, tell his disciples and Peter that he goeth before you into Galilee: there shall ye see him, as he said unto you (Mk 16:5-7).
Then Jesus spoke, Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have (Lk 24:39).
If that isnt awesome enough, we get to be resurrected too for sure!
For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord (1 Thess 4:15-17).
Houdini will at long last be resurrected and he, like us all, will either appear at the Great White Throne Judgment where no hope is (Rev 20;11-14), or at the The Judgment Seat of Christ (1 Cor 3:10-16; 2 Cor 5:10) where we will find great joy.

Carla responded to yesterday's "Bible Portion for Today" regarding God always hearing our prayers:
Thank you for that reassurance. often times, i don't think he's hearing me and then i realize that the devil trying to distract me. i know my heavenly father has a plan for me and i need to be patient while he works out all the details.
we also need to keep in mind when we pray, that we understand its HIS will be done and not ours. i think people get tripped up with that, thinking that whatever they pray for will come to pass but that's not the case. if it's in line with god's will for our lives it will.
