1 Corinthians 13:12-13 (NKJV)
12 For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.13 And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
Reflections:
Im thinking about transparency today; transparency being the lack of pretentiousness (not pretending to be something were not). Im not suggesting becoming psychologically naked so that everyone knows our every thought that we think, but rather just being genuine with folks.
Truth be known even we dont fully know our own hearts. In the book of Jeremiah 17:9 we read, The heart is deceitful above all things, and it is exceedingly perverse and corrupt and severely, mortally sick! Who can know it [perceive, understand, be acquainted with his own heart and mind]?
However, once saved, and indwelt by the Holy Spirit, we now have a fighting chance at transparency. What if we prayed that He would remove all pretentiousness from us such that what you see is genuinely what you get?
There is such freedom and rest in total and unconditional surrender. Jesus said it wonderfully in Matthew 11:28-30, Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.
And whats more, Jesus needs us to be open and sincere with one another; even sharing the deep things of the heart. Those deep things about ourselves, that have been shown us by the Holy Spirit, are the very things that others may well need to hear, so that they also might receive hope, be encouraged, and built up.
For now we may only see dimly, but with the help of the Holy Spirit our potential can be maximized through transparency, such that we can bring hope and help to others; both in the Body of Christ, and to the unsaved as well
