Psalm 18:24-28 (AMP)
24Therefore has the Lord recompensed me according to my righteousness (my uprightness and right standing with Him), according to the cleanness of my hands in His sight. 25With the kind and merciful You will show Yourself kind and merciful, with an upright man You will show Yourself upright, 26With the pure You will show Yourself pure, and with the perverse You will show Yourself contrary. 27For You deliver an afflicted and humble people but will bring down those with haughty looks. 28For You cause my lamp to be lighted and to shine; the Lord my God illumines my darkness.
Reflections:
The Bible abounds with the principle of sowing and reaping. If we sow with righteous desire, we will reap blessing, and if we sow to the flesh well inherit the wind. This verse is not about doing good works to earn salvation, as so many different denominations teach us, but rather it speaks of the results of a heart either for, or against, God.
Weve heard that we can always tell a tree by its fruit. We just have to wait until the fruit appears. Someone might tell us that theyre an apple tree, but until we see the apple blossoms and sample the ultimate fruit we really wont know for sure. They might in fact be a crab apple tree not fit to eat from.
The writer of the Book of Hebrews tells us to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises (Heb 6:12). Fellowship with those you know, know God and share the blessing of God with one another. This is true fellowship.
Just look at the wonderful responses God makes towards those that walk in righteous desire:
With the kind and merciful You will show Yourself kind and merciful
With an upright man You will show Yourself upright
With the pure You will show Yourself pure
I believe this is what we all desire. Lord, cause my lamp to be lighted and to shine illuminate my darkness so that all will see You in me
