Galatians 3:1 (NKJV)ScreenHunter_03 Jul. 11 20.15.gif

Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now being made perfect by the flesh?

Reflections:

We often wonder whats wrong with us. Why cant I ever get my life to where I feel satisfied. We live what we believe is the Christian life, but still nothing seems to work out the way we feel it ought to. We try so hard, but everything seems to be a chasing after the wind; and of course never catching it.

We go to church, we pray, we fast, we read and study the Bible, listen to endless sermons all the while striving to keep up with, and mimic, those around us that are inheriting the promises, but to no seeming avail. Whats wrong? Why cant we find the genuine Righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit that we so long for (Rom 14:17)?

Well, one answer is that perhaps weve been looking in all the wrong places. The fundamental mistake we tend to make is that were trying way too hard. Truth be told, the spirit of the church of Galatia has passed down to most of our churches today. The following verses describe this church at Galatia:

O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you that you should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed among you as crucified? This only I want to learn from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now being made perfect by the flesh (Gal 3:1-3)?

We are taught that we must do all the things aforementioned in order to be happy in Christ. This is simply not true. This in fact is a formula for failure! We must simply return to the cross to find the true righteousness, peace and joy our hearts so long for, because its freely and unconditionally given us through the mercy and grace of a loving heavenly Father who wanted us to have it so much that he sent his only begotten son to die for it.

Its so simple Stop striving! Give it up! We must simply surrender to love and let the Holy Spirit do the rest through us. Remember Jesus yoke is easy and His burden is light and we will find rest for our souls (Matt 11:29-30)
