2 I will worship toward Your holy temple and praise Your name for Your loving-kindness and for Your truth and faithfulness; for You have exalted above all else Your name and Your word and You have magnified Your word above all Your name!
Reflections:
Im reminded of that old hymn, Great is Thy Faithfulness:
Great is Thy faithfulness, oh God my Father;
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not;
As Thou hast been, Thou forever wilt be.
Great is Thy faithfulness! Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see.
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided;
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!
Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide;
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!
Im also reminded of the Bible verse that says If God be for us, who can be against us (Rom 8:31)? God has, and always will, honor his word towards us. He regards his word even above His own name.
We often hear folks say, I swear to God Ill do thus and so. Well, to whom does God swear to keep his promises to? To above HIMSELF! Dont ask me to explain that; I cant. We being finite, cannot grasp the infinite. But somehow He magnifies his word to be greater than even himself!
We can take great comfort in such an awesome God who is faithful, true and holy. He simply cannot be any less than faithful to those that are his; purchased by the blood of his own Son. The apostle Paul nails down this truth beautifully when he writes: In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began (Titus 1:2).
We are the most blessed people on the planet. I love being a Christian
