Psalm 24:9-10 (KJV)
9Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in. 10Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, he is the King of glory. Selah.Reflections:
Selah means to pause and meditate upon. Just think what a wonderful invitation this is. If we will but make ourselves vulnerable, and open wide the gate of our heart, the King of Glory promises to come in. What could be more exciting than the arrival of the very King of Glory Himself into our wee human heart?
But this is what God has always wanted! This was the very heart of God in the Old Testament, and it is now made fully manifest to us by Christ himself. God has always sought out a people for himself. Listen to Jesus invitations:
I am the door by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. (John 10:9).
I am the way the truth and the life, no man cometh unto the Father but by me (John 14:6).
Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me (Rev 3:20).
Many would say, but my heart is not clean enough for Him to come in. No, and it never will be. That why we have Romans 5:8, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Its only by grace, beloved. If we could have done it on our own Jesus could have stayed at home, in heaven, rather than to come to earth to be abused by his own sinful creation and hung on a bloody cross to die.
The only requirement God sets forth is for us to believe (this word believe means to totally trust in, to cling to, and to rely) on the Lord Jesus Christ with all our heart and to Lift up our heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in. 10Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, he is the King of glory Selah
