5 For if a man does not know how to rule his own household, how is he to take care of the church of God?
Reflections:
Will the real me please stand up?
The real me is the one I am when no one is looking. The real me is the person I am at home. The real me is who I am with those Im too familiar with; the ones I feel I can take my pain and frustration out upon.
What we can do to alleviate these ungodly, hypocritical, hurtful responses of ours?
The first step is to release the pain that is causing us to lash out at those closest to us. We must acknowledge the truth about ourselves; to stop all the excuses and self-justifications. We have no right to take out our inner turmoil on someone else.
The second step is to realize that we do not have the capacity, in and of ourselves, to change our own spots. We need help. We couldnt save ourselves, and we cant change ourselves. For this we need the Holy Spirits help.
We need to come toe to toe with our sin and acknowledge it for what it is sin! We must fall out of agreement with it and choose to repent and receive Gods forgiveness.
Many times it may be necessary to go to those weve hurt and to ask forgiveness. Humbling ourselves, and acknowledging our sin out loud to them (although embarrassing) is very powerful spiritually.
We mustnt fool ourselves into thinking that God will truly anoint us in ministry if were walking in this known hurtful hypocrisy. Those that are discerning in the Body of Christ can see right through us. The only one we end up deceiving is ourselves
