6 Blessed be the Lord, who hath not given us as a prey to their teeth. 7 Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are escaped. 8 Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth.
Reflection:
Many times we find ourselves captive to habits, bondages and emotional snares; just like the bird in our verse today. We dont set out to get snared, but then again, Satan is really good at what he does, and if were not careful he can snag us real quick.
Once we realized were snared we typically begin to cry out to God for help. The more desperate we get the louder we cry and the deeper we go with God.
Desperation is the bridge to power with God -- power to overcome any and all destructive behaviors in our lives. True surrender, repentance, cessation of soul power (trying to solve our own problems via our own strength) plus a total reliance on the supernatural intervention of God is the key. Jesus said, Without me you can do nothing.
Were not looking for a soulish makeover where we have to be consciously fighting all the time to maintain a fleeting measure of success. We need a total, lasting victory! We need God to step in and help! Only He can meet our need. When He does it (and He will) its done once and for all!
Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.
