63 It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.
Reflections:
Jesus always spoke wonderful words of life. If you�re like me you become sorely disappointed at the words that sometimes travel from the depths of our old sin nature to our tongue, and then unfortunately out of our mouths.
The problem is that it is s-o-o-o involuntary and so subtle. It seems like the true character of our fallen nature flashes right past our new nature like a lightning bolt in a rowdy storm. And why does it always happens when we least expect it?
Why must we speak so poorly, of even those we call friend? Why must we stroke our own ego at someone else�s expense through gossip and subtle slander?
Lord, I want only to speak words of life through the Spirit. Purify my heart such that the wellspring of my words might always be consistent with who I profess to be in Christ � amen
