I remember back in college when I would go to the
beach with my friend Karen, whenever she saw an attractive
guy walking toward us, she would say, "Oops! Time to suck
in my stomach!"
I rolled my eyes and laughed of course, but the truth is
bloating is a very common, not-so-funny problem that
affects millions of people.
And its effects can go far beyond just having to suck in
your gut when you're wearing a bathing suit and get a cute
guy alert.
Bloating can be extremely uncomfortable and is commonly
associated with cramps, pain, gas and constipation.
It can get so bad that some people need to unbutton their
pants just to be able to breathe. Others must find relief
with a heating pad or lying in a fetal position.
Occasional bloating is one thing...but many people have it
a LOT, as in several days a week or even every DAY. This is
chronic bloating and is nothing to take lightly.
If you've been feeling like a pan of Jiffy Pop popcorn on a
fairly regular basis, let's explore what might be behind YOUR
beach ball gut and more importantly, what you can do about it.
The Mammoth Rise Hath Many Causes
There are several medical conditions that can cause chronic
bloating. These include:
IBS (irritable bowel syndrome)
Crohn's disease
Ulcerative colitis
Poor gallbladder function
Diverticulosis/diverticulitis
Food allergies or sensitivities
Celiac disease
Plus gas and bloating are common side effects of many medications
including antidepressants, acid reducers, antibiotics and pain
killers.
But in the absence of an underlying disease or medication factor,
far and away the most common causes of chronic bloating are:
Enzyme deficiency
Intestinal dysbiosis
Poor digestion
Let's take a brief look at each of those and then talk about how
you can help shrink your stomach!
1. The Enzyme Enigma
Lacking digestive enzymes is a classic cause of chronic gas and
bloating.
When you don't have adequate enzymes to properly break down your
foods, as they move along they irritate the lining of your
intestinal tract, and in doing so stir up lots of gas and bloating.
This also can lead to leaky gut syndrome and poor absorption of
nutrients to boot.
There are many different deficiency possibilities here including:
Lipases and/or bile: Lacking these affects your digestion of fats
Amylases and maltases: Being low in these results in poor digestion
of carbs
Proteases, gastric juice and/or hydrochloric acid: A deficiency
in any or all of these means poor breakdown of proteins
Lactase: Being low in lactase leads to the familiar lactose
intolerance and being unable to properly digest dairy products
Lacking in one or more of these can mean many a puffball peritoneum.
2. The Dreaded Dysbiosis
Dysbiosis is the term for having an imbalance of bacteria in your gut
which favors the unfriendly, harmful organisms living inside of you.
Many factors can lead to dysbiosis including stress, environmental toxins,
ack of sleep, oral contraceptives and other medications (especially
steroids and antibiotics).
But one of the most common culprits is the standard American diet (also
known as SAD--an appropriate acronym) which is loaded with bad fats,
sugar, processed and fast food, very little fiber and very few naturally
occurring nutrients.
These factors encourage an overgrowth of viruses, dangerous bacteria,
yeasts and fungi in your gut wall which in turn can cause such severe gas
and bloating that people may ask you if you're pregnant--even if you're
a guy!
Dysbiosis can also lead to diarrhea, constipation, low immune function,
chronic, repeated infections and low energy.
In addition, the dangerous microbes can produce toxins of their own which
damage the villi, microvilli and cilia in your intestinal lining and lead
to chronic inflammation, leaky gut and poor nutrient absorption.
3. The Poor Digestion Drama
Poor digestion is a MAJOR cause of most chronic gas and bloating. Simply
put, if your foods are not broken down properly, it's never a pretty sight
further "down the road."
Although poor digestion can be related to enzyme deficiency and dysbiosis
(numbers 1 and 2 above), it's also very commonly the result of eating foods
and meals that are just too difficult for your body to break down efficiently.
You see, each type of food you eat requires a specific kind of digestive
enzyme--some foods are broken down by an acid enzyme and others by an alkaline
enzyme.
When your meals are complex and include several different types of foods, the
presence of the opposing acid and alkaline enzymes in the stomach may cause
the enzymes to be neutralized and weakened.
This can impair and slow your digestion, initiate repeated secretions of acid
(which can cause "trouble up north"--also known as acid reflux) and of course
lead to many a ballooned-up belly.
How To Pop YOUR Bloating Balloon
In order to say goodbye to bloating, you need to look at what may be causing
yours.
First and foremost, if you're on any of the medications I mentioned above, it
may be time to talk to your doctor about alternatives (or see if you can get
off them altogether).
But if your bloating is not medication-related, chances are excellent that low
enzymes, dysbiosis and/or poor digestion may be culprits behind YOUR incredible
growing gut.
And even if you have an underlying condition like Crohn's, colitis or IBS, many
people have gotten tremendous relief from their bloating (and other symptoms
too!) by addressing any possible enzyme shortages, balancing their intestinal
flora and encouraging better digestion!
Here's the magical 3-part formula that can help pop YOUR bloating balloon belly:
1- Enable those enzymes
Over the last 50 years increasing numbers of people are suffering from enzyme
deficiencies and all the health challenges they cause. This directly correlates
with our increasing dependence on processed foods and fast foods.
And the thing is, once your body's ability to produce enzymes is diminished,
that's it! You can't wave a wand and magically make more.
So if you suspect enzymes may be a concern for you, it can make a huge difference
to give your body a little help at every meal with a superior digestive enzyme
supplement like Digestizol Max.
Digestizol Max's blend of 14 plant-derived enzymes will help your body break down
ANY kind of food you eat--protein, carbs, fats, dairy, you-name-it.
When your foods are broken down like they should be, the "rest of the journey"
down your GI tract is more pleasant too...and that translates to LESS BLOATING!
One of the very first changes that most people report with Digestizol Max is
immediately less gas and bloating! And now you know why.
2- Destroy dysbiosis
Probiotic supplementation with species of both lactobacillus (for the small
intestine) and bifidobacterium (for the colon) can be very helpful in fighting
dysbiosis.
Probiotics can help build up the population of friendly microbes in your gut,
so the good guys can "crowd out" the bad guys and bring your balance back to
where it should be.
Probiotics can also help decrease the permeability of the gut wall. This can
help to avoid the leakage of poorly digested food particles and toxins into
your abdomen and bloodstream that can lead to illness and food sensitivities.
Super Shield multi-strain probiotic formula has not one, not two, but FIVE
different powerhouse strains of Bifidobacteria and SIX Lactobacillus strains,
plus two other potent strains.
Now thats thorough!
Studies show that a wide variety of strains is important to helping the greatest
number of people, since each strain has its own "specialty" in terms of how it
helps your body function...and that includes reducing bloating!
3- Encourage easy digestion
Our average diets are loaded with processed foods and horribly hard to digest
meals, so it's easy to see why so many of us are popping our buttons left and
right.
In addition to causing chronic gas and bloating, eating this way is also a
LEADING cause of diverticulosis/itis, IBS and acid reflux. They're simply
different ways that your body is saying, "What the heck are you doing to me?"
But that can be turned around very easily by simply eating for better
digestion--like I will show you in the Great Taste No Pain health system.
The GTNP manuals teach you why specific foods and food combinations can cause
health problems like IBS and acid reflux and encourage ulcer development. It's
all based on simple biology and chemistry, but I explain it in a down to earth
way that will make perfect sense to you.
I also show you how to put together meals that can be much easier for your body
to digest and give you loads of tasty recipes to try. You'll be shocked at how
